During his sermon on this day, Father Vadim emphasized the concept of freedom and what freedom means for a person in general, and especially for an Orthodox Christian. Drawing upon the liturgical books and the understanding of the Holy Fathers, he gave a clear answer: true freedom is possible only when a person abides in the Truth. And for an Orthodox Christian, the Truth is God Himself. Therefore, when a person abides with God, he abides in the Truth, and no external circumstances are fearful to him any longer: neither oppression from authorities, nor threats, nor other trials, because the Lord strengthens a person and grants him genuine spiritual freedom.
