On the feast day of the Holy Martyrs Faith, Hope, Love, and their mother Sophia, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in our parish church. The service was presided over by the rector of the parish, Archpriest Vadim Zakrevsky.
In his homily, Father Vadim reflected on the lives and martyrdom of the saints whose memory the Church commemorates on this day. He emphasized how difficult it is to imagine the state of mind of a mother who strengthens and supports her own children in their sufferings and helps them to remain steadfast in their faith even unto a martyr’s death.
Yet, on the other hand, in this we may perhaps see one of the most profound examples of complete trust in Divine Providence and wholehearted acceptance of the will of our Lord Jesus Christ.
