On 21 September, on the feast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, one of the Twelve Great Feasts of the Church, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in our parish church.
The Divine Service was presided over by the Rector of the parish, Archpriest Vadim Zakrevsky.
In his sermon, Father Vadim drew the particular attention of the parishioners to the importance of steadfast faith in God, trust in His mercy, and patient prayer.
A shining example of such faith and trust is given to us by the holy and righteous Ancestors of God, Joachim and Anna — the parents of the Most Holy Virgin Mary. For many years they humbly endured the trial of childlessness, never ceasing to pray and never losing hope in the mercy of God. Their long-suffering and faith were rewarded: the Lord granted them a Daughter — our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary.
Through this remarkable example, Father Vadim called upon those present to remember how important perseverance in prayer, patience, and trust in Divine Providence are for a Christian, even when the fulfilment of what is being asked for seems distant or impossible.
A particularly joyful event of this feast day was the first Holy Communion of the infant Gregory. The Sacrament of Baptism had been celebrated on Saturday, 19 September.
The parishioners of our church warmly congratulate Gregory and his family on this momentous occasion and wish him to grow in faith, love, and the grace of God.
